After Jaylen Brown guaranteed the Celtics would make the 2019 Finals, it was clear that the Celtics do not lack confidence.
The team clawed their way one game from the NBA Finals without their two best players, and the young talent on the roster will only improve. The Celtics are a trendy pick to emerge from the Atlantic Division and dethrone the Warriors.
Washington guard John Wall spoke with Yahoo! Sports’ Michael Lee, and said the Eastern Conference is anyone’s game.
“On paper, everybody looks great,” Wall said. “We look great. Boston looks great on paper. But how are all those young guys going to mesh with Kyrie [Irving] being back? Or Gordon Hayward being back? Nobody knows how that’s going to work. Now, they’ve got a hell of a coach in Brad Stevens, and [with GM and president] Danny Ainge, they’re going to figure it out. But you still got to put it all together. You’ve still got to make it work on the court.”
If there’s anyone who can figure how to best utilize his players, it’s Brad Stevens. Too much of a good thing can never be bad.
Wall continued with the uncertainties about the Sixers and Raptors. With the addition of Dwight Howard, the Wizards certainly became more talented than last year’s squad with finished eighth in the conference and was dismantled by the Raptors in the first round of the playoffs.
However, on paper, the Celtics stack up as the kings of the East.
