The Celtics-76ers rivalry doesn’t even take a break for summer, as Jayson Tatum and Joel Embiid proved during a spirited one-on-one game that gave the former the opportunity to remind the latter how his season ended.
The two were filmed — along with Celtics teammate Semi Ojeyele and a host of other NBA players — working out as part of the Unseen Hours web series starring NBA trainer Drew Hanlon.
Tatum exhibits the same shot-making ability against Embiid as he unleashed on the rest of the league, nailing a series of fallaways with the All-Star big man draped all over him. Embiid eventually wears him down with his size, however, but not before Embiid tries to take the ball first, “because I just won,” and Tatum reminds him, “I beat you in the playoffs.”
Tatum vs. Embiid starts at the 3:45 mark, but the entire video is worth a look from the attempts to fix Ojeleye’s 3-point stroke in a pair of sessions to the arrival Sixers project Markelle Fultz, who’s sporting a strange new haircut and still trying to repair his wayward jumper.
