‘Upset’ Isaiah Thomas begins to show commitment to Cavs
Finally a member of their team after an eight-day trade struggle with the Celtics, the Cavs are beginning to map out plans for the injured but ‘fully committed’ Isaiah Thomas.
According to Cleveland.com, the 28-year-old Thomas will begin his training program with the Cavaliers on Tuesday. Per the story, Thomas’ work back to the court will be overseen by Dr. James Rosneck, a renowned hip specialist at the Cleveland Clinic who works with the Cavs, along with Dr. Richard Parker, the team’s lead doctor and an orthopedic surgeon at the Clinic. The team also wants to see how Thomas responds after a week of this training, and then through the month of September leading into training camp before they determine a timetable. The story also noted that all indications point to Thomas missing at least a portion of the season.
Multiple sources told Cleveland.com the team’s “not going to rush it with Thomas, but remain optimistic he’ll return to the court this season and play at his usually high level, while sources also told the website that Thomas was ‘upset’ that he was traded.
But his frustrations with being traded have seemingly cooled down of late and turned into that Isaiah-like determination, as the 5-foot-9 Thomas was recently photographed in his new Cavs gear by a fan, was pictured at his new locker all smiles, and has even commented on one of the most recent LeBron posts on Instagram.
