Trading down again reportedly remains possibility for Celtics
It’s just about 24 hours before the NBA draft and what the Celtics will do with the No. 3 overall pick remains anyone’s guess.
The Celtics could stay on script and select Kansas forward Josh Jackson or Duke forward Jayson Tatum, or Danny Ainge could go off script, which still remains a possibility.
According to the Boston Herald’s Steve Bulpett, one general manager believes the Celtics are looking at potentially moving down in the draft again to pick up another asset. Another GM believes Ainge wants North Carolina State point guard Dennis Smith Jr., who isn’t expected to go in the top five, and could be a reason to move down once again.
Smith worked out for the Celtics prior to the draft.
“It went very well,” he said Wednesday, via the Herald. “I got to meet Danny Ainge, and that was great. Ironically, the Lakers and Celtics rivalry, the 30 for 30, had just came out, so I had a little background with Danny Ainge going into the meeting. Danny Ainge was crazy back then, so I had some background info on him. In turn, our meeting went well. I knew something about him; he knew something about me.”
Certainly there will be plenty more rumors between now and Thursday night. Stay tuned.
