Marcus Smart is drawing interest in advance of this week’s NBA trade deadline.
According to Marc Stein of the New York Times, Smart has landed on the radar of the Nuggets. Stein writes: “Denver is among the teams that has explored Marcus Smart trade scenarios with Boston, according to league sources. Emmanuel Mudiay has been made available, sources say, but the Celts covet a first-round pick for Smart.”
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Celtics would consider dealing Smart for a first-rounder. Smart, who will be a restricted free agent this offseason, is expected to be out until the All-Star break with 20 stitches in his hand after punching a picture frame in Los Angeles last month.
Smart, 23, is averaging 10.1 points a game. He’s shooting .357 from the field and .299 from 3-point land. As for Mudiay, 21, the 6-foot-5 guard is averaging 8.5 points a game and shooting .366 on 3-pointers. The Nuggets selected him seventh overall in 2015.
