Ray Allen’s ex-Celtics teammates dissed him earlier this summer when they failed to invite him to Kevin Garnett’s 2008 reunion show, which aired during the NBA Finals. But now, the two sides are throwing verbal bouquets at each other.

Appearing together at an event in China last week, Allen and Paul Pierce posed for a photo. In the captain, Pierce indicated he wants to rebuild his relationship with the shooting guard.

Allen expressed similar sentiments in a recent interview with ESPN, saying he never had an issue with his Celtics compadres. “That’s a conversation that has to be had with Paul, because if you remember I haven’t said anything negative about those guys … I don’t have any ill will. When I left, I was a free agent,” he explained.

While that’s true, Allen’s Celtics teammates viewed his decision to sign with the Heat as a betrayal. That summer, Garnett said he didn’t have Allen’s number anymore, because he wasn’t “trying to communicate” with him.

In 2015, Pierce told ESPN’s Jackie MacMullan he always had a “weird relationship” with Allen. Rajon Rondo also had an infamously fraught relationship with him.

But with Avery Bradley’s emergence, Allen began to see his minutes decrease. He went on to win the 2013 NBA Finals with the Heat, sinking the game-tying three-pointer in Game 6.

As more time passes, it seems as if Allen’s former running mates are beginning to understand his business decision. It may be only a matter of time before the “Big Three” are reunited.
