Almost exactly a week ago, the Celtics announced they’d turned Max Strus’ two-way deal into an NBA contract. This put Strus and Javonte Green against one another for the last spot on the C’s roster, while Tacko Fall got a two-way deal.
Although the Celtics have yet to announce Green as the final member of the roster, it appears he’s won the job. Boston announced on Saturday Strus has been waived, as have Kaiser Gates and Yante Maten.
Gates and Maten can still play for Boston’s G League team, the Maine Red Claws. Strus will have to latch on elsewhere because of the amount of money he was guaranteed with his NBA deal.
