Marcus Smart reportedly expected to be cleared for game action by April 27

It looks like the Celtics will get Marcus Smart back before the start of the second round of the playoffs.

According to Yahoo! Sports’ Shams Charania, Smart had a reevaluation on his torn UCL in his right thumb Monday in New York and he is expected to receive clearance to return to game action at the six-week mark of surgery (April 27). Also, Smart has been cleared to start light non-contact shooting.

Looking ahead to the playoff schedule, it would appear April 27 will be at the very end of a first-round series, so it appears if the Celtics advance they will get Smart back for the second round.

Smart hasn’t played in a game since March 11.

The Celtics have two games left in the regular season.
