Those persistent Kyrie-to-the-Knicks rumors just won’t go away.
Celtics guard Kyrie Irving won’t be a free agent until next summer, when he’s eligible to opt out of his contract. And the New Jersey native is once again being linked to his hometown team.
According to ESPN’s Ian Begley, Irving will “give the Knicks consideration” next summer.
Of particular interest to Irving is a potential partnership with Wolves swingman Jimmy Butler, who can also opt out of his deal next summer. There are rumors the two want to play together, and if the Knicks can clear cap space, a triumvirate of Irving, Butler, and Knicks big man Kristaps Porzingis could make basketball relevant in New York again.
