Kyrie Irving rumors: NBA teams 'more wary' of Celtics point guard following tough 2018-19 season

Kyrie Irving will be a popular man in the coming weeks, especially if he opts out of his contract, but maybe the interest from teams around the league isn’t as strong as it once was.

According to Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald, teams are “more wary” of the point guardĀ because of the way things played out for him and the Celtics this season. The report adds these teams are “concerned about putting too many eggs in [Irving’s] basket.” In addition, there are two teams that are only willing to sign him if they can pair him with another superstar.

Irving and the Celtics underachieved this year, as they lost four straight games to the Bucks in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Despite all this, the report says the Celtics remain hopeful they can keep Irving.

Irving’s decision to stay with the Celtics or become a free agent will certainly impact how the organization approaches the offseason.

This story will likely have a few more twists and turns before the 27-year-old ultimately makes his choice.
