Knicks reportedly pursuing Marcus Smart
After the Celtics agreed to sign Gordon Hayward, the team now needs to cut some cap space in order to make room for him.
The team is reportedly looking to deal away some of their veteran contracts, including Marcus Smart.
One of the teams interested in Smart is the Knicks, according to the New York Daily News. The Knicks have about $15 million in cap space and Smart makes just $4.5 million this season and then becomes a restricted free agent in 2018.
Smart averaged 10.6 points and 4.4 assists and 3.9 rebounds last season, starting 24 games. He’s also known for his tenacious defense.
The Celtics are also reportedly looking to deal Jae Crowder, which could be part of a sign-and-trade with the Jazz as part of the Hayward signing.
Stay tuned, as there likely will be more to come.
