Kelly Olynyk thanks Celtics, fans for years of support
Signing Gordon Hayward meant that the Celtics would need to clear cap space. A casualty of this need was Kelly Olynyk.
Shortly after Hayward announced his decision, the Celtics renounced their rights to Olynyk, making him an unrestricted free agent. It wasn’t long until Pat Riley and the Miami Heat signed him to a four-year, $50 million contract.
Since signing with the Heat, Olynyk tweeted out a heartfelt message, thanking Boston and its fans.

Throughout his tenure on the Celtics, Olynyk averaged a respectable 9.5 points and 4.7 rebounds per game coming off the bench, while shooting 36.8 percent from deep.
