Jaylen Brown named to NBA All-Rookie Second Team
On the eve of the first ever NBA Awards show, the league has been announced Celtics forward Jaylen Brown has been named to the All-Rookie Second Team.
Brown, the third overall pick of the 2016 NBA draft, put together a promising rookie campaign. Throughout the season he averaged 6.6 points and 2.8 rebounds, while shooting 45.4 percent from the field in 17.2 minutes per game. While showing flashes of defensive prowess and potential, as well.
During his rookie campaign, Brown had his ups and downs. He went into a slump from November to January, averaging only 5.2 points and 2.5 rebounds, on 41.7 percent shooting, before rebounding in February averaging 8.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, while shooting an efficient 47.6 percent in the season’s final three months. Brown then continued this hot streak, playing important minutes for the Celtics throughout the playoffs.
This is hopefully a sign of things to come for the young swingman. With Danny Ainge repeatedly stating he has no plans to trade Brown any time soon, he likely will become an integral part of this Celtics team moving forward.
Brown was accompanied on the All-Rookie Second Team by Nuggets guard Jamal Murray, Suns forward Marquese Chriss, Lakers forward Brandon Ingram and Mavericks guard Yogi Ferrell.
