Jaylen Brown guarantees Celtics will make 2019 NBA Finals: 'No question about it'

Jaylen Brown does not lack confidence, especially when it comes to his Boston Celtics.

Appearing on C.J. McCollum’s Pull Up podcast, Brown was asked about the Celtics potentially making the NBA Finals. He did not mince words.

“Oh, we’re getting to the Finals,” Brown said. “No question about it.”

Brown’s confidence is understandable. The Celtics were six minutes away from reaching the Finals last season despite playing without All-Stars Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward in the postseason. Speaking to McCollum, a star guard in his own right with the Blazers, Brown sounded disappointed that LeBron James left the Eastern Conference.

“Our mindset was he’s not beating us again,” Brown said. “We don’t back down from nobody.”

McCollum, who led the NBA in free throw shooting two years ago (.912), admonished Brown for shooting so poorly (.644) from the charity stripe, noting that he can’t be a 39 percent 3-point shooter and struggle from the line.

“I’m working on it right now,” Brown said.

As for making the Finals, Brown is taking a day-by-day approach.

“At the end of the day it doesn’t matter if we’re the favorites in the East or we’re predicted to win 10 games in the East,” Brown said. “We’ve got to come out and play. It’s simple.”
