Jaylen Brown could be done for rest of summer league
It appears Jaylen Brown could be shut down for the remainder of summer league. Brown injured his thigh in the second quarter of the Celtics’ game Tuesday after taking a knee to his thigh while contesting a layup. The Celtics start the summer league playoffs on Thursday, but Brown may not be partaking.
“He better be 110 percent. Otherwise you won’t see him Thursday,” said Celtics coach Brad Stevens.
“I’m not sure. I’m gonna see how I feel. I’m in a lot of pain right now and it’s pretty locked up,” Brown added. “But tomorrow is a new day. I might feel better tomorrow and then go from there.”
The former No. 3 overall pick exited the game limping after injuring his thigh, but returned for a few minutes before leaving the game again.
“Yeah it started tightening up on me,” Brown said. “I tried to get it back loose, but the more I stood still the more it was tightening up, so I tried to check myself back in. Then somebody from higher up pulled me out.”
Stevens added that the injury is not a long-term concern.
In three summer league games, Brown is averaging 10.3 points per game, 1.7 assists per game and 5.3 rebounds per game.
