The Celtics did not air a tribute video for Isaiah Thomas Wednesday, per his request. But they did honor Jae Crowder. Unfortunately, Crowder did not see it.
The Celtics defeated the Cavaliers 102-88 Wednesday, and Crowder struggled mightily in his return to T.D. Garden. The forward went 2-for-12 from the floor and 0-for-6 from three. Missing his tribute video served as the capper to a lousy evening.
“I didn’t see it,” Crowder told reporters after the game, per MassLive. “I didn’t see it. … Damn. I’m pissed you just said that.”
The previous night, Crowder scored 17 points in Thomas’ return. But he said he’s not upset he didn’t deliver in his first game back in Boston since he was traded to Cleveland last August.
“Nah, nah, nah,” he said, via MassLive. “I just wanted to win. I could have played like (expletive) and got the win and been very happy. I ain’t into all that other stuff. I just like to win. Never been a stats guy. Even when I was here, I didn’t worry about my stats, I just wanted to win. I did whatever it takes to win. Tonight (the Celtics) deserved to win.”
