After scoring just 69 points in their last game, the summer league Celtics reached triple-digits in Monday’s victory against the Hornets.
Jabari Bird and Jared Uthoff led the way with 16 points apiece for the C’s in their 100-80 win.
Plenty of Celtics filled up the stat sheet. Seven players reached double-figures, including four starters and three off the bench. Guerschon Yabusele and Semi Ojeleye put up 14 and 13 points apiece, respectively. Pierria Henry also scored 13 points, while Hassan Martin poured in 12 and Trey Davis scored 11.
Ojeleye came out of the gate strong shooting 3-for-4 in an opening frame that saw the Celtics put up 30 points. The Hornets put up just 20 points in that first quarter and the C’s never looked back cruising to their 20-point-victory.
The dominance continued for the whole contest, there was only one lead change. The Celtics led by as many as 13 points during the opening frame, by as many as 15 points during the second and third quarters, and reached their biggest lead at 20 points during the fourth quarter.
It was a tough shooting night for Charlotte. The Hornets shot just 38.1 percent from the floor including a 9-for-31 night from deep.
One of the bright spots of summer league so far has been the play of 6-foot-9 forward Jared Uthoff. The former Iowa Hawkeye scored his 16 points on 6-for-9 shooting and added six boards.
A crew of Terry Rozier, Jaylen Brown, Danny Ainge and Mike Zarren took in the game courtside and head coach Brad Stevens watched from the stands.
The C’s have now completed their preliminary schedule and they’ll wait for other teams to finish up on Tuesday before the summer league tournament is seeded. Tournament play begins on July 11.
