Isaiah Thomas pushes for NBA team to sign Jared Sullinger
Sunday in the quarterfinals of The Basketball Tournament, former Celtic Jared Sullinger put up 15 points and eight rebounds while playing alongside other notable Ohio State University alumni for team Scarlet & Gray.
The former first-round pick has been out of the NBA since February after being waived by the Suns. Sullinger is using the tournament, a single elimination, winner-takes-all ($2 million) jamboree filled with a plethora of former NBA and NCAA Division I players, to reach out to potential scouts.

ESPN’s Fran Franschilla reported on Saturday that the Nets were present at the tournament watching Sullinger play.
While scouts have taken notice to Sullinger in the tournament, his play also caught the attention of one former Celtics teammate. Following Sullinger’s performance Sunday, all-star point guard Isaiah Thomas tweeted some words of praise for the unemployed free agent, noting that the big man is “healthy.”
Thomas wrote in the tweet: “My guy @Jared_Sully0 is healthy and looking good!!! Somebody gotta pick him up.”
Sullinger played with the Celtics for four seasons from 2013 to 2016. His best season was in 2015-2016, when the 6-foot-9, 260-pound forward played in 81 games (started in 73) and averaged 10.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.
