Isaiah Thomas insists he’s moved on from the Celtics trading him five months ago, even though his words say otherwise.
In an interview with ESPN’s Rachel Nichols that aired Christmas Day, Thomas accused the Celtics’ medical staff of misleading him about his hip injury last season. He played through the playoffs, only to find out it was more severe than originally thought. Thomas has been sidelined for the entirety of this season, and is eyeing an early January return.
“I do wish I had more information. It was never, ‘This could be something that could possibly shut you down for a while,”’ Thomas told Nichols. “Because if that were the case, I definitely wouldn’t have played.”
The Celtics traded Thomas to the Cavaliers for Kyrie Irving in late August. The deal was delayed for nearly one week, due to Cleveland’s concerns over Thomas’ medicals. Since then, Thomas has repeatedly talked about how disappointed he was to leave Boston, including in a documentary that dropped last week.
But Thomas says he only keeps talking about the Celtics, because he keeps getting asked about them.
“It’s funny how people think I keep bringing up the dumbass trade situation,” he tweeted Tuesday. “It’s the media asking the same dumbass questions about it. So it’s obvious they want to keep it going. It’s not like when I’m interviewed I’m asking them can you PLEASE bring up the trade please lol.
“Don’t get mad at me like im sitting here wanting to still talk about the trade. Get mad at the person interviewing me lol. Get mad at the questions not the REAL answers! These post were for the people who think I’m salty about the trade… Good morning to y’all too lol
“Hating Hours: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm CLOSED on weekends & holidays.”
The Celtics will take on the Cavaliers Jan. 3. Tip-off is scheduled for when “hating hours” are closed.
