Isaiah Thomas gets into Instagram beef with Lance Stephenson over Paul George
Isaiah Thomas continues to use social media as a means to recruit players to Boston. But his apparent efforts to sway Pacers forward Paul George struck a nerve with one of George’s teammates.
Guard Lance Stephenson posted a picture on Instagram Wednesday, begging George to stay in Indiana. The All-Star forward reportedly told the Pacers he doesn’t intend to re-sign with them when his contract expires next season, because he wants to play for his hometown Lakers.

Despite George’s apparent wishes, several NBA teams are reportedly in pursuit of him. According to the Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Celtics are making a big run at George, and hope to pair him with Jazz forward Gordon Hayward, who’s a free agent. Those reports may have led Thomas to throw some shade in Stephenson’s direction, commenting that George is “gone” from Indiana. That prompted Stephenson to fire back.
“U just scared cause u know we can beat ya’ll,” he wrote.
Thomas correctly pointed out the Celtics beat the Pacers in all three games last season. “We blasted ya’ll every game this year. Ya’ll are the last team I’m worried about my brotha lol,” he said.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for Thomas, who also tried to recruit free agent Blake Griffin on Instagram Wednesday. Minutes after the Clippers had traded Chris Paul to the Rockets, Thomas commented on a photo of Griffin and Paul standing together. “Helluva run. Now Blake come on over to Boston lol,” the message reads.
