Former Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo re-signs with Lakers

After missing out on Kawhi Leonard, the Lakers have agreed to bring back former Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Rondo will sign a two-year deal with the team. Rondo played his first season with the Lakers last year, averaging 9.2 points, 8 assists, and 5.3 rebounds a game, while shooting 40.5 percent from the field and 35.9 percent from beyond the arc.

Resigning with L.A. will mark the first time that Rondo plays consecutive seasons with one team since his stint with the Celtics. During his career in Boston, Rondo averaged about 11 points and 9.1 assists a game. After the Celtics traded him in 2014, the point guard played with the Mavericks, Kings, Bulls, and Pelicans.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and JaVale McGee have also agreed to re-sign with the Lakers. Rondo, Caldwell-Pope, and McGee will join the team’s newest additions: Danny Green, Quinn Cook, and DeMarcus Cousins.
