Glen “Big Baby” Davis, a former key depth piece to the Celtics and 2008 NBA Champion, was arrested last month at a Maryland hotel with over 120 grams of marijuana and nearly $100,000 in his possession, and has since been indicted on seven counts of drug possession and intended distribution, according to a report.
Davis was reportedly staying at a Hampton Inn in Aberdeen, a suburb of Baltimore, when the hotel owner smelled marijuana coming from Davis’ room. When the owner went to investigate the smell and knocked on Davis’ door, somebody inside the room shouted, “F–k off.”
The owner then called the local police, and Davis, who told police he was in Maryland visiting family, gave his signed consent for authorities to search his room.
“They recovered 126 grams of marijuana,” Aberdeen Police Lieutenant William Reiber said of the department’s room search. “In addition to that, there was a brief case that contained 92,164 dollars of U.S. currency along with a ledger that contained language which is consistent with someone involved in the sale and distribution of narcotics.”
According to police, the strains of marijuana in Davis’ possession were from a Los Angeles wholesaler court records show Davis told police he was in business with.
The attorney for the 32-year-old Davis maintains his client’s innocence.
Davis, who last played in the NBA in 2015 and committed to playing in the Big3 League next season, is due back in court later this month.
