Danny Ainge asks Isaiah Thomas how much his ‘Brink’s Truck’ sandals are worth
Isaiah Thomas is no longer just saying he wants to receive a max contract when he becomes a free agent next year. The Celtics point guard is now using his footwear to convey his desire to get paid.
On Monday, Thomas posted on Snapchat a picture of his new sandals, which feature the image of money pouring out of a “Brink’s truck.”

Given all of the money point guards are receiving –– John Wall just signed a four-year, $170 million contract extension with the Wizards, the Pelicans inked Jrue Holiday to a five-year, $126 million deal and Toronto’s Kyle Lowry received a three-year, $100 million contract from the Raptors –– there’s little doubt Thomas will cash in next summer. The Celtics would probably like to sign him, too, but with Gordon Hayward and Al Horford under contract, they’ll purportedly have a limit on what they can spend.
In response to Thomas’ post, Celtics general manager Danny Ainge asked the guard how much money he’s looking to fetch.
“How expensive are these brink slides?” Ainge wondered.
In an interview last month with Comcast SportsNet, Thomas was adamant about his desire to get paid. He’s due to make $6.2 million this season.
“I’m a max guy,” Thomas said. “I deserve the max and we’re just going to continue to take care of business on the court and let the cards fall where they may. I’m happy for all the guards and all the other guys getting their money, because they deserve it. But my time is coming. They know they’ve got to bring the Brinks truck out. They know that.”
Thomas, 28, averaged 28.9 points per game last season. The Celtics acquired him from the Suns in February 2015.
