Celtics unveil full schedule for 2017-18 season
Details about the Celtics’ schedule for the upcoming season have been trickling out for the last week. It’s been known, for example, that the Celtics would host the Wizards on Christmas Day and take on the 76ers in London.
The team unveiled its entire schedule Monday, filling in the rest of the mystery.
The home opener will be Oct. 18 against the Bucks, one night after the first game of the season in Cleveland. As of now, the Cavaliers still feature their trio of LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love. But a tumultuous offseason is threatening the Cavs’ grip atop the Eastern Conference, especially if Irving successfully forces his way out of town.
Another marquee early season date is Thursday, Nov. 16, when the Celtics will host the Warriors in primetime on TNT. Boston has played Golden State tough in recent years, defeating the Warriors on the road in each of the last two seasons.
With Gordon Hayward now with the Celtics, there’s a lot of anticipation for Boston’s annual road game against the Jazz. The Celtics will travel to Salt Lake City March 28.
The NBA said last week it’s redesigning its schedule to prevent teams from resting stars. The league seemed to stand by that promise, as the Celtics will only play back-to-back nights on 13 occasions.
