The Celtics decided to stand pat at the trade deadline, but not before making an extended push for Memphis guard Tyreke Evans, according to a report.
Per USA Today’s Alex Kennedy, the C’s offered Memphis two second-round picks and youngster Guerschon Yabusele for Evans, but were rebuffed. The Wizards also reportedly offered two second-rounders, but the Grizzlies held firm on their desire to receive a first-rounder for Evans, who’s on an expiring contract. According to ESPN’s Zach Lowe, the Nuggets offered a choice between Emmanuel Mudiay/ and a second-rounder, or multiple second-round picks and an expiring contract.
In all cases, Memphis said no.
With Evans off the table, the Celtics will turn their attention to the buyout market, which is expected to include players like former Celtics swingman Joe Johnson, who should be bought out by the Kings after being traded to Sacramento on Thursday.
