Tremont Waters was the Celtics’ fourth and final pick of the 2019 NBA Draft. Boston selected Waters in the second round at No. 51 overall. He was the second player the C’s took from the SEC, with Grant Williams from Tennessee going to Boston at No. 22.
The New Haven native played the point in his two seasons at LSU. He was the 2019 SEC co-defensive player of the year, making both the All-Defensive Team and First Team All-SEC. He averaged 2.0 steals per game in 2017-18 and 2.9 per game in 2018-19.
Offensively, he’s not much of a three-point shooter, making 32.7 of his attempts from deep last year. He was a sound facilitator throughout his career with the Tigers, averaging six assists a night in 2017-18 and 5.8 in 2018-19.
