Celtics rumors: Bradley Beal could be 'prime option' if Kyrie Irving departs

Now that it appears Kyrie Irving is likely done in Boston, the question becomes who will come in and take his place.

One name that has recently surfaced is Bradley Beal of the Wizards.

According to Jordan Brenner of The Athletic, Beal is a “prime option” for the Celtics if Irving does indeed leave. Beal, 25, is signed through the 2020-21 season, so the Celtics would need to put together a decent trade package.

The report adds Washington would need to strongly consider an offer of Jayson Tatum, Marcus Smart and a protected pick for Beal, or another option could be Smart, Jaylen Brown and two future first-rounders.

Beal is coming off his best season where he averaged 25.6 points, 5.5 assists and five rebounds per game.

By all accounts the Celtics will be very active in the coming days and weeks, as they have a number of assets, including three first-round picks in Thursday’s NBA draft.
