Celtics forward Gordon Hayward underwent successful ‘bony and ligamentous stabilization’ surgery for the fracture dislocation of his left ankle sustained Tuesday against the Cavaliers late on Wednesday night, the Celtics have confirmed.
The surgery was performed by Drs. Mark Slovenkai and Brian McKeon at New England Baptist Hospital, and assisted by Dr. Anthony Schena, following consultations with Dr. David Porter of Methodist Sports Medicine in Indianapolis.
While the Celtics noted that the 27-year-old Hayward is expected to make a full recovery, they would not put a timetable on his return to game action for the Celtics.
Bartelstein also told ESPN late last night that he does not believe that Hayward, an All-Star with the Jazz last season, will return to the court this season.
