Celtics 1st-round pick Robert Williams misses summer league game with knee injury

Celtics 1st-round pick Robert Williams misses summer league game with knee injury

Robert Williams’ start to his NBA career with the Celtics continued to get off to a subpar start on Saturday.

The first-round pick missed Saturday’s summer league game with a knee injury suffered in Friday’s opener. The forward suffered a knee-to-knee collision in the first half of the game and the team is calling it a knee contusion.

“It hurt, but it’s definitely something you have to go through, and I’ll get more treatment back at the hotel again,” Williams told reporters on Saturday at the team’s shootaround.

The Celtics are off Sunday, but will be back in action on Monday. There’s no word on Williams’ status.
