Celtics 1st-round pick Robert Williams details missing flight, first summer league practice

Celtics first-round pick Robert Williams spoke to reporters for the first time since missing his flight and thus first summer league practice on Sunday.

The Texas A&M product took responsibility and said he’s trying to move past it.

“I went home, did a couple of things, then just a missed flight, missed communication by me,” Williams told reporters before practice on Tuesday. “It’s all on me. So we’re going to push forward and move past that.”

The Celtics said they would handle it internally.

“Just accountability, which they stressed to me a lot when I first got here,” Williams said. “Just accountability and just stressing that this is a job. Things are different in college so just knowing what you have and the opportunities are limited.”

The Celtics open the summer league Friday night in Vegas against the 76ers.
