Kyrie Irving likes Thanksgiving, after all

Kyrie Irving likes Thanksgiving, after all

Kyrie Irving does like Thanksgiving after all. There was plenty of buzz after the Celtics’ loss to the Knicks when, on his way out of the locker room, Irving proclaimed, “I don’t celebrate that (expletive),” when wished a happy Thanksgiving. The C’s star then followed up with, “(Expletive) Thanksgiving!” But Thursday morning Irving’s emotions had settled a bit, leading the guard to backtrack from his public disdain for Thanksgiving. Ironically, Irving’s previous tweet addressing Thanksgiving was very complimentary of the…

Kyrie Irving releases heartwarming commercial with his dad

When Celtics fans woke up Thanksgiving morning they were forced to come to grips with their team suffering perhaps its worse loss of the season while living life as a .500 team. There was also the exclamation by the C’s star, Kyrie Irving, that he really had no use for the national holiday. But thanks to Nike and Irving there was a one-minute distraction that put things in a different perspective. My dad is the reason I wear 11. I want…

It's time for Brad Stevens to show what he's made of

For the first time in two years, Brad Stevens is coaching a .500 team.  The Celtics head coach has never led a roster with such high expectations throughout his NBA tenure, thus, no one could have predicted his team to fall this low 18 games in. That is their lot in life after 117-109 loss to the Knicks Wednesday night. (For a complete recap, click here.) But how his team responds from its worst loss of the regular season will…

Terry Rozier tweets apparent cryptic trade request, then backtracks after outrage mounts

Terry Rozier tweets apparent cryptic trade request, then backtracks after outrage mounts

Terry Rozier may have unleashed one of the more passive aggressive trade requests in memory. The backup Celtics guard, who’s predictably seen his role diminish this season, tweeted Tuesday, “Let’s do us ALL a favor.” Considering the message came roughly 12 hours after the Celtics’ 117-112 loss to the Hornets, it seemed as if the cryptic missive was directed towards general manager Danny Ainge, ordering him to find another spot for Rozier.  Prior to the tweet, there were already murmurs…

Celtics left searching for right guys at right time

Celtics left searching for right guys at right time

The Celtics continue to lean on Kyrie Irving at the end of games. But it’s a formula that isn’t always going to translate into wins, as was evident in Boston’s 117-112 loss to the Hornets Monday night. (For a complete recap, click here.) Sure, it was Irving’s 23 points in the fourth quarter and extra period that made all the difference in Friday night’s win over the Raptors. As did his 18 points at the end of a comeback win…

The story behind the kid who rebounded for Donovan Mitchell

There was no hiding Brad Stevens' frustration this time

There was no hiding Brad Stevens' frustration this time

Brad Stevens has never been a short-term kind of guy, most of the decisions he makes this early in the regular season have the big picture in mind. Through 16 games, the Celtics’ head coach has been patient with his group’s progress. On the road he gave them the green light to make a 20-point comeback against the Suns when most coaches would have pulled their starters that deep into the fourth quarter, and last Friday in Utah he made…
