Aron Baynes will remain with the Celtics for at least one more year with Shams Charania of the Athletic reporting on Wednesday the big man has exercised his player option for the 2019-20 season. The option is worth $5.9 million.
Baynes had foot and ankle problems throughout 2018-19, but proved once again he’s a big help for the Celtics defensively in the paint on a roster that’s fairly thin at the post position.
Keith Smith of Yahoo also reported Baynes is opting-in under the indication he will not be traded this summer:
Per a source: Aron Baynes opted in with the indication that he would not be part of a trade package this summer. There is an understanding that a trade could happen down the line, but Baynes opted in with the idea that he would be staying in Boston for at least the near-term.
